The toll plazas protests against unfair tolls tomorrow should be conducted in a peaceful and civil manner, without any personality insults or character attacks

Media Statement
by Lim Kit Siang

(Petaling Jaya, Saturday): The nation-wide protests called by the Coalition Against Toll at the toll plazas tomorrow at 10 a.m. should be conducted in a peaceful and civil manner, without any personality insults or character attacks against any individual.

The purpose of the nation-wide protests at the toll plazas is to give the people an opportunity to send a clear message to the government that the highway privatisation programme with the exorbitant tolls and regular toll increases impose great hardships and that there should be a renegotiation of all highway concessions to ensure justice for the motorists as well as the general  public.

I do not know how many toll plazas will have protests as this is meant to be a spontaneous expression of the people’s opposition against unfair highway tolls.

I will be at the Salak Jaya Toll Plaza in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur  at 10 a.m. tomorrow for the toll protest there, while other representatives of the Coalition Against Toll will be present at the other toll plazas, including:

The people should do their own posters and placards for the  protests  tomorrow.
