Is Liong Sik’s "minority race" mentality the reason why MCA opposes the upgrade  of Tunku Abdul Rahman College to a university?

Media Statement
by Lim Kit Siang

(Petaling Jaya,  Sunday): Tunku Abdul Rahman College graduates have demanded that MCA President, Datuk Seri Dr. Ling Liong Sik, apologise for his refusal to support the upgrading of the college to a university.

They want Liong Sik to make a personal commitment to upgrade the Tunku Abdul Rahman College to a university to provide more higher education opportunities and that MCA should stop using TARC as a political propaganda tool to allow  TARC become an independent higher educational institution of national and international repute for academic excellence.

If MARA College can be upgraded to university, Liong Sik should explain why TARC does not qualify to be upgraded to full university status.

Is Liong Sik’s "minority race" mentality the reason why MCA opposes TARC’s upgrade to an university?

In February this year,  Liong Sik spelt out the MCA’s political philosophy when in his talk to  the National Press Club on Malaysian Chinese: Crisis and Choice, he said:

Is it because of MCA’s "minority race" mentality that MCA is not asking for TARC’s upgrade to university status, as well as why in my 30 years in Parliament, I had never heard MCA MPs speaking up  against corruption or  fought for justice, democracy and human rights!

Or has  Liong Sik no confidence whatsoever that  he could get the Cabinet to approve the  application for the upgrading of TARC to university status?

Has Liong Sik so little confidence in the quality of education being provided by TARC that he dare not support the application by TARC to become an university?
