DAP has fielded 47 Parliamentary and 88 State Assembly candidates - with 64 per cent of the DAP candidates professionals or university graduates

(Petaling Jaya,  Saturday): DAP fielded  47 Parliamentary and 88 State Assembly candidates in the tenth general election nomination today.

In Sarawak, DAP fielded seven Parliamentary candidates, all of whom are either professionals or university graduates.  Five of them are lawyers.

Nation-wide, 64 per cent of the DAP’s 47 parliamentary candidates are either professionals, lawyers, doctors, engineers or university graduates.

For the first time in  DAP history, DAP has fielded the most number of seven  women candidates, two in Johore and  one each in Penang, Perak, Selangor, Pahang and the Federal Territory.

All the four DAP Parliamentary candidates in Selangor are new faces, while four out of the six Parliamentary candidates in Johore are new faces.  Twenty-seven of the 47 DAP candidates are contesting Parliament for the first time - which  means that  over 57 per cent of the DAP parliamentary candidates are new faces.
