Let  Deepavali this year usher in a new millennium where  good triumphs over evil, starting  with the restoration of justice, freedom, democracy and good governance in Malaysia

(Petaling Jaya,  Friday): I wish all Malaysian Hindus a very Happy Deepavali.

Let Deepavali 1999 usher in a new millennium where good triumphs over evil, starting with the restoration of justice, freedom, democracy and good governance in Malaysia.

On the occasion of the "Festival of Light", let Malaysians of all races and faiths mark its spirit by joining  hands to beat back the forces of darkness to give space for the development of a moral, decent, ust, equal and fair society where the backward, downtrodden and exploited have first claim to national attention.

The 10th general election is not far off, most likely in the last week of  January next year.  Let all Malaysians make a Deepavali resolution to make the  10th general election a celebration of light rather than an enveloping of darkness - the cleanest rather than the dirtiest general election in the nation’s history.
