(Petaling Jaya, Saturday): The DAP Candidate Selection Committee will decide after the Teluk Intan by-election on the recommendation of the Negri Sembilan DAP State Committee on the candidate for the Repah by-election in Negri Sembilan.

Politics has been said to be the art of the possible. It should also be the art of the unexpected.

The DAP Negri Sembilan State Committee should reconsider its decision to contest in the Repah state by-election.

The Repah state assembly seat is a traditional "safe seat" of the MCA, which is so confident about recapturing the constituency that the Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar, Tan Sri Mohamad Isa had challenged the DAP to contest while MCA national leaders are going around declaring that the MCA would win the Repah by-election with an even bigger majority than in the general elections in April 1995.

There are those who suggest that since the MCA is so confident of winning the Repah by-election with an even bigger majority, may be the DAP should give the MCA a walkover in Repah.

Finally, however, the most important deciding factors are whether the voters of Repah want the DAP to contest in the by-election and whether the DAP in Negri Sembilan is united to fight a by-election.

The DAP Candidate Selection Committee will decide on the candidate for the Repah state seat after the Negri Sembilan DAP State Committee had reconsidered the question of whether to contest in the Repah by-election.
