(Petaling Jaya, Friday): The Government should expedite the salary adjustments for the 10,050 staff of five statutory bodies so that they would not lose out as compared to their public sector colleagues.

The 10,050 staff of Social Security Organisation, the Employees Provident Fund, Bank Simpanan Nasional, the Armed Forces Fund Board and Tabung Haji had not enjoyed salary adjustments like the government employees under the New Rumeneration Scheme in January last year because of their separation from the government service in terms of salaries, conditions and benefits as these agencies were able to generate their own income.

As the salary adjustments sought by the 10,050 staff in the five statutory bodies in line with the NRS adjustments would not incur the government in any additional financial commitments, as all the agencies are self-financing and could afford it, the government should not delay its approval for such adjustments.
