Abdullah Badawi congratulated on a mission accomplished with the release of Ahmad Mohktar as one of the hostages in Peru

The whole country is relieved that on the 12th day of the Tupac Amaru hostage crisis in Peru, the Malaysian Ambassador to Peru, Ahmad Mokhtar Selat has been released in the latest batch of 20 hostages who walked out to freedom from the besieged Japanese embassy residence.

Foreign Minister, Datuk Abdullah Badawi should be congratulated for a mission accomplished as he had been sent with the specific task of getting early and safe release of Ahmad Mokhtar.

While the Peruvian hostage crisis is still not over, as there are still 83 hostages, Malaysians must continue to hope that there would be a peaceful resolution without the loss to any life.
